General Workshop Information 2
BONUS RETREAT WEEK AVAILABLE FOR ADULT WRITERS:
Any writer who attends the July 5 - 12 Workshop may attend the prior week (June 29 - Jul 5) for just $315. (see brochure page 5 or click on previous page at the bottom of this page) You may use the time as you wish. The total cost for the 2 weeks combined is $875, about 58 bucks or so a day. What a deal! This offer is only for those who will attend the workshop, however you may have a spouse or friend join you if no additional transportation services are required. That person's fee would also be $315. This added fee is due along with your final workshop fee. We can only take about 40 people for the retreat so don't miss out. Check it on your application.
FLYING HINTS: Wildacres is about 1 1/2 hours from the Asheville Airport. Because of vehicle capacity we are limited on the number of "flying people" we can take. Also, for vehicle service you have to schedule your flight at certain times. Those flying may wish to check out car rentals at Asheville to allow flexibility on your arrival and departure. Another consideration (if you can rent a car) would be to fly into the Charlotte airport which is about 2 hours away BUT, your flight may be cheaper and your car rental much cheaper. Several people sharing a rental car is also a good idea and nice to have at Wildacres for exploring.
ROOMMATES: There is always hesitation about roommate assignments. We do a good job of matching people and many long friendships have been made. Also, you are not in your room that much. We keep you busy at Wildacres! There are classes, critiquing, homework, auditing other classes, time to sit in a rocker and chat, Gong Show practice - not to mention time spent eating 3 full meals a day. There is a program each evening so roommates are not the problem you might anticipate. To make certain you like your roommate, bring your own writer friend.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholorship info is HERE. Many of our students request Grass Roots Grants from their local Arts Council or a local college and are seldom denied.
CHOOSING A FACULTY PREFERENCE: We will try to honor your faculty request, but for people coming to Wildacres for the first time, we usually can tell where you will be the happiest.
