WRITERS WORKSHOP July 5 - July 12
DATES: You will arrive on Sat. July 5 and leave on Sat. July 12. Check in time is between 1 and 5 PM on Saturday July 5. Those flying should arrange their flights to arrive at the Asheville Airport before 3 PM on July 5 and to depart from Asheville after 12:30 PM on July 12. This allows adequate time for van service. You MUST arrange your flight within the times specified unless you are going to rent a car. (Other flight info on page 6) EVERYONE must be checked in before 5:30 on Saturday.
FEES: The TOTAL price for 7 days is $560. The price includes workshop fees, one manuscript critique, room (double), and meals.
If you are flying we will provide airport service for $50 round trip
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Published, unpublished and talented beginning writers are welcome at Wildacres, but you must be a serious writer to attend. We require a one page sample of your writing included with your application (not returnable). Alumni can forego the sample.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT EXCEPTIONS: If you have a friend or spouse who would like to accompany you, they are welcome. Only one person in the room is required to take part in the workshop. Wildacres is a wonderful place for a relaxing vacation. The fee for this person is also $560.
ROOMMATES: If you do not have a roommate, we will assign you one. We do not have any private rooms. Please see the personal information section on page 7.
MANUSCRIPTS: Send one copy of your manuscript along with the balance of your fee by June 1st. Manuscript limits are: Poetry - 6 poems; Short Story, Novel or Creative Non Fiction, Murder, Mayhem & Other Genre 15 pages with a 4.500 word limit (Do not send 2 shorter manuscripts - only one manuscript will be critiqued, regardless of length). Play/Script writing - 20-25 pages of a one act play or a 1st Act. Do NOT send more pages than stipulated and do NOT revise the manuscript once sent. Some of the classes will exchange manuscripts electronically before June 1st. Do NOT E-mail or FAX your manuscript unless directed by your instructor. Bring 10 copies to share with your group.
